October 2016

Dear Little 'Good Boy' Ceyone,

Papa had long planned our vacation to Hua Hin, Thailand in October 2016. Stories of our vacation entered our bedtime routine several weeks in advance and you were looking forward to it the most. Fun began right at Changi airport in Singapore after we checked in. You ordered fish fillet burger from McDonald's while Papa and I savoured dosa at the south Indian restaurant.

Hua Hin was 3 hours drive from Bangkok and we all sat comfortably in the car and enjoyed the ride through Thailand country side. It was night time when we reached our resort in Pran buri and we were all quite tired. After eating dinner, we settled in our villa that was going to be our home for the next 6 days. We were all very intrigued by the open and transparent bathroom. I was eagerly waiting for morning to explore the beautiful surroundings.

For me it was a relaxed Monday after a long time. We kicked off with a sumptuous breakfast at Dalah restaurant. Below are some pics of our happy expedition.

The unique and natural honey comb dripping honey at breakfast buffet.

Exploring the surroundings. There was beautiful sea side just across the road from the resort.

Afternoon fun time at the private pool where Papa and I took turns to become shark for you.

Papa had planned a couple of activities for you and art and craft was one of them. You went with Papa and Tita while I took some time to put together this blog that was long overdue. One of my goals of that vacation was to work on my blog. I had been buried deep in office work and could hardly find time to write. So I challenged myself to use that time. I did moderately well in terms of picture sorting and posting.

You were so happy to spot a bunch of bananas growing on the tree and excitedly showed it to all of us.

At pizza making class. We had lots of fun working with the chef and making pizza. The session had a a bit of disappointing ending when one of the other boys pulled the lever of the oven and the glass of the door crashed broken all over the pizzas. I had to explain to you several times why we couldn't get our pizza to eat.

We carrie some activity materials for you from home as well. In the mornings you probably missed school and asked us to sit down and do painting or writing work with you. The villa was beautiful with tiny lotus ponds all around and you sat outside to do painting with Tita.

After completing our activities in the morning, we went to Santorini city (replica amusement park based on actual Santorini in Greece) It was a very kid friendly and gorgeous place. You were enthused to try their kids boat (solo), then did the push horse and later you and I went into the giant giant wheel. It was your first ride in a ferries wheel and I was grateful that it went very slow. First I instructed the operator to do only one round and then we ended up completing all three.

Papa and I tried their famous ice cream in coconut shell where they scrape the inside of coconut and fill it with ice-cream. It was a bit too sweet but delicious.

Our next adventure was visiting the elephant foundation in Hutsadin. We planned to feed and bathe the elephant there. You were excited in the beginning but later found the heat to be too scorching and made the comment that the elephant was boring. Papa and I were a bit shocked. Think you found the size of the elephant to be a bit overwhelming.

Papa wanted to do some charity and we ended up feeding the eight years old girl Song ran tonnes of bananas and gently bathing her.

At Hua Hin Railway Station which was also a sightseeing spot.

Tita had gotten me a semi electric tooth brush and you loved to brush my teeth with it every night before going to bed. I was very particular with your and mine dental cleanup routine, especially before bedtime. I learned it the tough way after a bunch of root canals and wanted you to pick up the good habit early on.

There were several lotus ponds in Sheraton and we absorbed ourselves in the natural beauty every morning. We made sure to pack some extra food for you from breakfast as lunch got delayed at times.

There were loads of cuddling moments for all of us with you! And we loved it to bits. As a chubby and happy child, you were a pleasure to interact with.

Our next destination was the local beach.

After binging on Thai food for two days I realised that I needed to eat healthy food and we indulged in local healthy stuff. Mangoes were number one choice!

Our next exciting spot was the Swiss Sheep Farm. Papa and I were very much looking forward to bring you there.

It was a lot of fun to feed milk in bottles to the goat kids and lambs. You and I both enjoyed it a lot.

We continued with our relaxed schedule and evening walks outside the resort. Sunset time was very pleasant and a great time to see local people set up street side shops, tuk tuks and bikes zooming past.

At the Cha'Am beach

With the staff of Luna La Pran at our last dinner where we ate most of our meals and they got used to our customization.

It was a fun and relaxing trip probably a bit too long for you. At the end you missed home and even school. On our return flight just before landing the pilot turned the plane in a round and I jokingly said to you that we were going back to Hua Hin and you screamed a loud No....And we all laughed!
I told Papa to keep vacations a bit short next time onwards.

We were back to the grind from the following Monday.

Your biggest fan and cheerleader,
Mumma
