June 2018

Dear Little Big Ceyone,

I often looked at your baby picture taken when you were 7 weeks old to then when you were a 5 years old huggable beautiful boy! Being your parent has been one of the best experiences of my life. Let me show you some of the things we did together back in June 2018 in Singapore!

I organized a cooking class for you and friends at our home during your school holidays. There were about 8 kids and you all had good fun with the teacher who brought all the ingredients from her home.

In parallel, I started venturing out into some entrepreneurial work with my childhood friends.

Thats a playdate day at Riaan's house. I joined you guys after work by taking bus 970 that took me straight to Jervois Road.

Of our cuisine trials, we ventured to try Mexican food at Super Loco, Robertson Quay that week. It was a beautiful restaurant by the river side and you enjoyed their quesadillas while I savored their tacos.

Occasionally Tita used to be kind to us and those days would result in feasts! I loved the Indian dish called 'baati' and Tita had learned to cook it well. She just cooked it with sides of her choice and I was happy with that.

We were also lucky to be invited to your classmate Reika's birthday party. Reika seemed to like/love you and you liked her too. I think that may have been your very first love letter! 😍

We took the bus and went to Great World City Serviced Apartments where she lived.

Reika and you!

During bed time, sometimes you climbed down to sleep with Papa.

Our regular, daily playground days at Singapore!

Before the school broke for summer holidays, you had swim gala. It was a good fun day to see you have fun in the pool and show some feats. It was an extraordinarily hot day and I pulled you out earlier than your friends.

At work, I got the surprise of mangoes from one of my co workers as we all loved mangoes.

More playground time!

We volunteered to take banana cake for your class party that Tita diligently put together with icing. I ate 5 thin pieces while clicking her pictures!

Year end class party at K1 at ISS school, Singapore.

That month I returned to the gym after a long break. I aimed to exercise 3 times a week consistently. Sometimes I was good and sometimes I was average.

There used to be free dress in your school every last Friday of the month. You loved playing in the sand pit after school and ensured that your hands never got dirty. You preferred cleanliness over fun.

On the first day of your school holidays we went to see the show Tabby McTat at the KC Arts Theater, Robertson Quay, near our house. We read the book numerous times and enjoyed it each time. So I decided that a show will be well received. I was always amazed at how just 3 or 4 artists carried out an entire 45/60 minute performance along with singing, dancing and acting all together. I wanted you to notice that and tried to bring you to atleast 1-2 shows per year.

We also went to attend your friend Swarat's birthday party before they moved to Basel, Switzerland.

One of the key highlights of the month was our visit to Legoland, Malaysia. You came to pick me up at work on Friday evening with Papa and Tita. Then we all started for Legoland, happily chatting in the car. You had a lot of fun there and wanted to visit frequently. We got annual passes made as this was a fun place at an hour's distance from Singapore.

It was hours of fun in their ginormous lego pit right at the reception lobby of the Lego Hotel where we stayed for the weekend.

Sometimes we had extempore fun gun and sword fights at home. You seldom wore shorts at home and there you are in your underpants and a mask!

Your collection of superhero figurines was rapidly swelling.

We attended Papa's birthday dinner at Rise restaurant at MBS.

During your school holidays you also visited my office once and had fun playing foosball.

One Friday evening I called for an impromptu picnic at Fort Canning Park. We packed our dinner and decided to eat it at the park that was just 2 bus stops away from our place. I wanted you to connect more and more with nature. You had fun chasing chickens literally while I enjoyed reading A thousand splendid suns peacefully.

We also caught the rehearsal for National Day and airplane watching was one of your favorite activities.

With our back to back schedules I tried to prioritize healthy eating and Tita supported this with salads that combined fruits and vegetables. I tried to eat more beetroot to boost my low hemoglobin.

Because of your fascination we ended up at Legoland once again before school opened! It was a good time that we had together.

I was worried about scheduling activities for you in the first month of school holidays. I was grateful that we got to do several things and you did get a bit bored initially but then started enjoyed the no school moments.

Crazily in love with you,
Mumma
