1st Birthday : 22 Dec 2013

Ceyone's First Birthday - Sunday 22 Dec 2013 at River Valley, Singapore

We celebrated your first birthday in Singapore with Dada and Dadi. In the morning you wore a new red onesie and looked super cute.

Papa's friend Partha Uncle and Shruti aunty came to wish you in the morning. They brought a cute little walker for you as your present. You liked the red packing.

It had been raining in Singapore and you had slight cold. You spent some time riding your new tricycle that I got as your birthday present.

In the evening we all dressed up for the big occasion. I had been waiting for this moment since so many months. Finally, it was the day when you turned one year old and Papa and I were so relieved that you had crossed infancy and stepped into toddlerhood.

I ordered a simple blue coloured cake with m&m's for you as you really like small round things. You tried to touch screw heads, small round plastic eruptions behind toys and the encircled page numbers in your Cinderella story book. Whenever you saw a rounded surface, you extend your little fingers to touch and feel. It was so cute honey.

I hand made rainbow coloured bunting for you and absolutely loved doing it.

I cut the cake on your behalf and we gave you Dadi's bangle to hold so you wouldn't jump on the cake.

I tried to let you taste some cake while you cutely tried to cut a piece with the fancy knife. Loved the curious chubby that you were.

We all relished the scrumptious vanilla pineapple eggless cake smudged with blue fresh cream.

Dadaji gave you a few hundred dollars as your customary birthday present. He had loads of currencies from his numerous foreign visits and he chose US dollars for you.

Dadi made the traditional sweet 'gulgule' (sweet fritters) for you.

I did our traditional tika and aarti for you. I dipped an ear bud in the red sindoor liquid and gently put a dot on your forehead. You wanted to touch the diya and the bell on the plate.

We sat down to open your presents of the day. You were super excited to see the big boxes and the red wrappers took your interest well.

You were happy to receive a microwave oven and a volkswagen remote control car. You loved to play with household stuff - the microwave, the broom, the vacuum cleaner being a few of your favourites. You also tried to held the iron when you saw Tita ironing Papa's clothes. And did I mention, kitchen was your favourite spot in the house. We often held you and sat on the kitchen stool while you watched cooking being done on the gas stove :) I was so amazed at your learning speed.
Your next favourite was the 'car'. Car was one of the first five words you had started to speak. Along with 'bha bha (bark)', Paye, Papa, Ca... (for car), Ba...(for bus). You sat on the window sill of our bedroom window and waited for cars to appear on the road below. When you spotted one, you screamed with joy 'CAAA...' and we all clapped.

A very happy first birthday to you my Little Mr. Sunshine :) You've made our lives so much more meaningful and happy. Car loads of love to you

~Mamma
