Ceyone and Naani

You shared a very special bond with your Naani. She was the first person to see you at birth after Mumma. Naani spent most of her time with us during your first year. She was with us through 9 out of 12 of your monthly cake celebrations. You loved Naani very much and knew well that Naani = endless fun.

Naani often bottle fed you expressed milk while Mumma took cat naps to prepare for the night.

You got loads of cuddles from Naani :)

We did a puja when you turned 40 days old and Naani made a paper cradle. It was symbolic of a new baby in the home and we prayed for your good health and happiness.

One February 2013 afternoon it snowed heavily in Tokyo. We were all very fascinated with snowfalls as our hometown Bhopal in India was moderately cold place and it never snowed there. After we put you for nap, we went to our balcony to feel the little cotton flakes on our palms. It was a very satisfying sight to see you sleep peacefully inside and the snow falling outside the glass. Your harmonious face drew us away from the big bangs of life outside the window.

It was then time for your first walk. We dressed you up in your rabbit snowsuit and went to the nearby Buddhist temple towards the Tokyo Tower. You slept all the while.

Naani and I completed most of our baby shopping before you came. But I guess its never complete. We made a few trips to Akachan Honpo at Shinagawa, a well known baby store in Tokyo.

Naani always managed to create a cozy space for you. Here you're sleeping on the big bed with Naani and my maternity pillow while our home was being vacuumed.

Chubbiness progression

With Naani, treats followed naturally. Here's my typical nursing mother's breakfast of half fried eggs with cumin and ajwain, toast and milk with milo, turmeric and saffron.

When you turned one month old, we asked Naani to do the honour :)

It was cherry blossoms time when Papa informed us that we'll be moving from Tokyo to Singapore. I did not want to miss the last bit of the pink paradise. I carried you in my ergobaby and we went to Megurogawa at Nakameguro. It was one of the best sights in Tokyo with the Meguro river flanked by cherry trees on both sides and the pink petals slowly drizzling in the flowing river. Breathtaking for Mumma and Naani.

In no time, we packed and headed for Narita airport. You slept peacefully in ergo carrier while Papa completed our exit formalities at the airport.

In the flight you had some good moments in the bassinet with Naani. It was a mixed experience as you cried a bit around your sleep time. We walked the aisles rocking you. But overall, you did well on a 7 hours long flight at a few days short of 3.5 months. I was greatly relieved that our journey went well.

Singapore was a huge welcome change in several ways. We waved good bye to layers and snow suits and started exploring fans and ACs. We stayed at Ascott Serviced Apartments for a few weeks in the beginning and every evening went to the terrace and the infinity pool.

We celebrated Naani and Nana's 32nd wedding anniversary with a cute little heart shaped ice cream cake. It was still some time before you could taste the cake but you enjoyed the evening.

Nana fell in love with you the moment he saw you. He came to meet Naani and spent most of his day time with you. You received endless affectionate cuddles.

Your play times were very enjoyable and Nana loved talking to you while you nibbled on Sophie the giraffe.

You neck muscles developed to be really strong and you could easily lift up your head for a good five minutes at a stretch. Nana loved this activity of yours and rushed to call all of us to see you do it.

You had amazing play times with Naani and Nana.

On Papa's birthday we got ready for our first dinner in Singapore with you at Punjab Grill, MBS Mall.

In no time you turned 6 months old. It was a huge day for us amid settling the new home with numerous trips to IKEA. We brought our favourite cake and happily talked of the day when you'd join us too for eating the cake.

Once settled, Motoko San was our first guest to visit us in the new home. She brought a cute dachshund soft toy for you. You loved nibbling its ears.

You had great fun with Naani everyday. You loved to jump and practice acrobatics in her lap.

Naani brought the Kanha dress for you for your first Janmashtmi festival. Even though she got 2X your size you couldn't fit into the cotton pajamas. We let you wear only the top kurta with the beautiful golden tiara. It was a very happy day at home.

Soon Royal Mama came to visit us for a short trip to Singapore. He liked watching you laying your hands on his laptop.

You enjoyed some time in his lap. It was a good start to your friendship.

We celebrated another of your month birthdays.

Naani prepared gaajar ka halwa, steamed bakarwadi (healthy option) and sabudana khichdi and we devoured it in no time while playing with you.

Spending time with Naani was always your favourite. It was great great pleasure to see you and Naani together.

Exchanging hands

You wearing your new swimsuit at the pool with Naani. I wanted something that covered maximum area to protect you from feeling cold and was comfortable. I ended up buying the swimsuit for a 6 year old.

When Naani tried to put you in your rocker, we realised that you had already outgrown it.

We got cupcakes to celebrate your month birthday from 12 cupcakes in Holland Village. It was a tiny shop on the first floor and we spent 45 minutes in searching the shop. But it was worth it.

You had loads of fun with Naani everyday and everywhere.

One of my most favourite photos. Bond of love.

Your first Diwali 2013 in Singapore.

Naani hand stitched this lovely yellow dhoti for you :)

One of the numerous giggles with Naani.

Story time. You absolutely loved books. In any form, shape or size. Magazines, catalogues, promotional brochures, all were welcome.

You pretended to kiss Naani, but actually bit gently :)

At Haji Lane shopping street. Mumma wanted to discover interesting places in Singapore.

At Bedok Reservoir Park.

The Merlion.

Naani came to Singapore for your first birthday party. As you had fever and I was taking care of you, Naani ensured that the arrangements were done well. She hand crafted some cute posters for the party.
Mumma was so happy and relieved to have Naani with her.

Next, we all celebrated Naani's birthday.

Naani encouraged silly and fun and you loved participating. The art of mastering the 'eeeeeeee....'

Naani loved you so much then and now.
