Joyful June - 2014

Dear Sweet Ceyone,

As we reached mid year and you turned 18 months old, a spectrum of your new activities sprouted out. You started practicing the 'thank yous' and 'sorries' and showed an impressive comprehension around those words. One night during bed time, you were constantly bouncing all over the bed and bumped into me. I said ouch and looked at you with the 'look you hurt me' look. You paused for 2 seconds, looked into my eyes and then said sorry. I felt the warmth of a heartmelt that instant and hugged you right away.

We kicked off by your usual play dates with Samar and Vivaan (whom you called Vinaam). You understood the concept of hugging and hugged us often. But when Samar hugged, you only smiled back. You liked Samar's nanny Belinda and I heard you say - 'Belinda koot (cute)' and 'Samar koot'.

Vivaan's mum Anoma invited us for lunch at her place. You took the opportunity to devour Vivaan's toys, cars and dog. You digged on the 'bhatura' made by Vivaan's nanny Agesha and called it bread, yummy bread.

When Samar visited us with his Naani, it was a great family playdate. I enjoyed talking to aunty while you enjoyed playing with Samar and Tita enjoyed talking to Belinda. At times, Aunty read you books and you paid good attention.

It was very interesting to note the way you remembered names of people, animals, places and even dishes in cook books. You never ceased to amaze me with your ever developing vocabulary. On Fathers' Day we got a new stuffed doggie and named him Robin in memory of my pet dog. Robin was huge in size and sat happily on the couch. You visited him often to pet, feed, kiss and even rest on him.

When Papa went for business trip to Vietnam, we went to Cool de Sac indoor play gym at Suntec Mall with Vivaan and Anoma. You both had lots of fun there and you savoured the chocolate shake from my glass. A day later you went down with tummy bug and cried a lot in the evening. I tried everything to console you until tears started rolling down my eyes and got very nervous for the first time. I contemplated on heading to the emergency and called the doctor. Thankfully after 3 hours you settled down and went to bed. I called Papa and he changed his flight and reached Singapore asap. It was a huge lesson for me to be prepared with some tummy medicines and ensure that outside food was safe. Those were some of the parenting tests that we faced. So glad the phase passed away!

I loved going on the slides with you. Your smile was the best healer for everything for Papa and me.

Papa's Birthday
June 13 2014 was Papa's 35th birthday and I had planned a surprise party for him. In the morning, we greeted him as usual and you loved doing the 'gipht' giving ritual. You loved birthdays, the song, the candles, the cake, the gifts, the party, the balloons and the excitement. We sent Papa to work and got back to the week long secret preparations for the big evening.

The decorations were completed when you took your afternoon nap. When you woke up and stepped into the living room filled with balloons, you shrieked with joy. I can never forget your gleeful face that looked like the nursery rhymes of chocolate lands. Just before our home got buzzing with guests, the photographer took the opportunity to click a few shots with you in action. The party theme was blue & white like polar bear. You wore a new summer dress that Naani sent for your from India.

Some random pictures of the month

At my friend and ex colleague Ria's house warming party. You fancied her panda tissue box and held it tight.

Father's Day celebration dinner and the adoption of Robin at MBS shoppes.

When you wore my top and wanted to fly :)

When you went to feed Romeo the tom cat with Tita.

When we went walking to Great World City mall for dinner.

At the marina area

Just woke up in the morning.

When Papa bought a remote control airplane for you to prep you for our upcoming flight travel for vacation at Bangkok, Thailand.

When we went for Italian dinner with our Italian neighbour aunty Maria at Bella Pasta, Robertson walk.

When we went for Mediterranean dinner at Pita Pan, MBS shoppes. You enjoyed the pita bread a lot while Papa and I dug on falafel balls and hummus.

When Vivaan came to our baby pool to practice walking. You both had a riot in the water that day.

When you wore the beautiful robe that Guddi Mausi Naani sent you from India.

When we went for Thai food at Thai Jam restaurant. Coconut water and pad thai were a hit with you.

When we emptied the shelves of bread for Papa's birthday party at the supermarket.

When you placed your toy vegetables basket in the fridge.

When we went for our daily evening walk, our favourite activity of the day!

Life was on the fast lane with you around. I connected well with your language learning ability and recalled the days when I was learning Japanese language in Tokyo. It was so impressive to see you grow and grasp together. Sometimes I wondered how exciting it must be for you to wake up each morning and discover new things and places. The milkyways of joy that empty shoe boxes, kitchen cabinets and endless running faucets held for you. Inside, I tried to feel the childlike enthusiasm and excitement for myself too.

Galaxies of love,
Mumma
