Dear Little Man Ceyone,
You turned 4 years old on December 22nd 2016. Your birthday was the most awaited event of my life and I would start preparations weeks in advance. That year however I got late to prepare for your birthday party. You had asked for Star Wars themed birthday party and I didn't know the 'S' of Star Wars. I did some Pinterest research and decided the elements I wanted to include. While I got my head around bringing the arrangements together I noticed that you had become quite chatty as a four years old boy. I realised that I could no longer GPS your thoughts and feelings. You asked me for a baby brother and when I wanted to share it with Tita you immediately sealed my mouth with your tiny soft palm and said that it was supposed to be a secret between you and me. I was astonished at your plan and its secrecy.
Papa and I decided to celebrate your 4th birthday on the actual day. It was midweek Thursday and we went with it. Your friends from building and school, my work colleagues and handful of Papa's friends were invited to the party. I had organised for a face painting artist who painted kids faces and got some craft work done. Papa got me two additional helpers and they helped me decorate the function lounge while Tita took charge of the kitchen to prepare for kids food.
All children created galaxy themed name tags for their room doors.
Kids menu included potato burgers, chicken nuggets, porridge, marshmallow cupcakes, mac and cheese, cheesy fried sausages, frozen spoony chocolates and Yakult. Grown up food was catered from our all time favorite Indian restaurant named Shahi Maharani.
I coolied about 16 pool noodles from ToysRUs and created their silver handles to be given out as light sabers from Star Wars. While walking in the mall with 16 pool noodles a lot of people stared at me giving me the crazy woman look. I enjoyed it all!
We decided to go with a simple buttercream vanilla sponge cake from Whips bakery that year as my usual bakers were on leave. We used your Darth Vader doll as a topper on the cake.
Pinata time was a lot of fun with you and your friends gushing to grab candies and showered by polystyrene balls in turn. You had specifically asked me to blow tiny balls on you and say Happy Birthday Connie to you on your birthday. So I did.
Our handyman Uncle Jackson agreed to be the photographer of the evening and captured some great pictures and videos for me.
